An engagement party, a packed dance floor, and one very big surprise at San Francisco’s Phoenix Hotel.
Marie and Griffin know how to have fun—and their friends know it. What their guests didn’t know was that the engagement party they’d been invited to at San Francisco’s Phoenix Hotel was actually a surprise wedding.
The request for formal attire might have been a clue, but Marie and Griffin had a history of throwing fabulous parties. On April 20, they greeted guests at the bar entrance dressed for their “engagement party,” giving absolutely nothing away.
An hour into the party, they grabbed a microphone and dropped the news. Shocked guests made their way through the hotel and into the iconic courtyard, where a wedding ceremony was waiting for them—and an incredible night unfolded.
Photographer Nirav Patel and his team captured the rush of excitement beautifully. Maybe it was the warm San Francisco spring day, the Aperol spritzes and bottomless espresso martinis, or simply the high of pulling off the surprise of a lifetime. Whatever it was, the energy never let up.
Hours of drinks, dancing and celebration later, our Poppy planners said goodnight while Marie and Griffin were still happily raging on the dance floor at midnight.
